Set-up improvement

Elements of improvisation
Paolo Di Sabatino, an accomplished jazz pianist, offers a relaxed and approachable workshop (individual and in group) tailored specifically for classical musicians who have never ventured into improvisation. Designed for Abruzzo Masterclass, this session will guide you through the fundamentals of jazz-oriented improvisation, highlighting both what to do and what to avoid. Theoretical concepts will be seamlessly transformed into practical tools, enabling you to confidently explore and enjoy improvisation. By understanding the core elements—what is happening, where, and when—you’ll be prepared to perform simple solos over some of the most commonly used chord progressions, all at a comfortable, beginner-friendly pace.
As both a talented violinist and an accomplished portrait photographer, Lisanne brings a unique perspective to her work, capturing not just an image but the essence of each person she photographs. Since 2020, Lisanne has been passionately dedicated to portrait photography, creating stunning series featuring musicians. Her keen eye for detail and ability to bring out the character of her subjects have made her a sought-after photographer in the classical music world. In the 2022/2023 season, she undertook the impressive project of photographing all members of the Dutch Philharmonic and Dutch Chamber Orchestra, crafting a visual narrative of these esteemed ensembles. Her portfolio is available on her website and social media, offering a glimpse into her remarkable ability to tell stories through photography.

Abruzzo Masterclass
Excursion
The Abruzzo Masterclass isn’t just about learning—it’s an immersive experience and a lively alternative to practicing alone.
It sparks spontaneous chamber groups, builds community, and draws inspiration from the region’s beauty, art, and rich heritage.
Calascio’s stunning mountains and valleys tell a story of trade and farming traditions. Last year, a guided visit to Rocca Calascio brought history to life, showing how these landscapes shaped Gran Sasso’s culture.
Breathtaking views, crisp air, and golden light made the experience even more special, deepening both artistic and personal perspectives.
It’s optional, but trust us, you won’t want to miss it! These trips bring people together, spark inspiration, and create memories that last long after the masterclass ends.
In 2025, we’re planning another unforgettable excursion—either a cultural tour or an easygoing mountain hike.
Last year, everyone joined in, and it became a highlight filled with discovery, laughter, and new friendships.
We look forward to creating more beautiful memories together this year!
